Phnom Penh – According to a report published on 27 January 2026 by the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), the Royal Government of Cambodia is arranging temporary housing for residents displaced by incursions along the Cambodia-Thailand border.

The meeting was led by H.E. Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, together with H.E. Koun Kim, State Secretary and First Vice President of the NCDM. The main objective was to identify suitable locations for temporary housing to ensure the safety and security of affected communities.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, provincial administrations, and the Departments of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction, and Infrastructure from Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear provinces also participated via online platforms.

According to the Ministry of Interior, from 7 December 2025 to the morning of 9 January 2026, Cambodia experienced damage to 336 homes and multiple public facilities, including schools, hospitals, pagodas, and other infrastructure.

The arrangement of temporary housing is part of the national social protection policy framework 2024–2035, which focuses on supporting vulnerable populations and those without shelter. The policy provides financial assistance programs for students from low-income and at-risk families, establishes affordable housing for low-income and vulnerable people, and supports temporary accommodation for displaced populations in pagodas and other religious sites.

It should be noted that residents in these five provinces continue to seek refuge and stay in temporary shelters, as Thai military operations along the Cambodia-Thailand border have forced them to flee their homes.
