Phnom Penh — On the evening of 10 January 2026, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia delivered a special national address, expressing deep empathy for the hardships faced by citizens and clearly reaffirming the Royal Government’s position on resolving the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute through diplomatic channels and international law.
In his address, the Prime Minister Hun Manet said the government fully understands the consequences and difficulties confronting the public, particularly communities directly affected by tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
He emphasized that the Royal Government will continue to employ all available measures, with a primary focus on diplomacy and international legal mechanisms, to safeguard Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to resolve the border dispute in line with the Kuala Lumpur Joint Statement of 26 October 2025 and the Joint Communiqué of 27 December 2025.
Alongside efforts to address the border issue, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s strong commitment to protecting the livelihoods and safety of citizens. He noted that the Royal Government has mobilized all necessary forces and resources, in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders, including friendly countries, national and international organizations, and the private sector.
The coordinated mobilization of resources aims to provide timely relief to affected communities and address emerging challenges through both immediate response measures and medium- to long-term recovery plans.
The Prime Minister’s address was widely viewed as a message of reassurance and confidence to Cambodians nationwide, particularly those living in border areas, affirming that the government is closely monitoring developments and taking firm measures to defend national interests and ensure the well-being of the population.
