KRATIE, August 24, 2026 — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, inspected social land concession sites in Kratie province, highlighting the government’s continued focus on improving land management, strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable rural development.

During the visit, Say Samal inspected LASED III in Kbal Damrei commune, Ou Krieng Saenchey district, and LASED II in Dar commune, Chitr Borei district, where social land concessions have previously been allocated to beneficiary families.

The inspection was aimed at monitoring and reviewing the implementation of the social land concession projects, as well as assessing how the allocated land is being used by beneficiary communities.

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction said regular monitoring is important to ensure that local socio-economic systems are properly developed based on the potential of each area.

Agriculture is expected to remain a key component of this approach, with agricultural production and rural economic activities being aligned with actual social needs and market demand.

The ministry views social land concessions not simply as a mechanism for providing land for housing and production, but also as part of a broader rural development policy designed to create economic opportunities, improve livelihoods and promote more effective use of land resources.

“Developing socio-economic systems based on local potential, including agriculture, is essential to responding to actual social and market needs,” the ministry said, emphasizing that such efforts form an important part of Cambodia’s rural development strategy.

Regular monitoring of LASED projects is also intended to identify challenges faced by beneficiary communities and ensure that land allocated through the programme can generate tangible economic and social benefits.

The inspection of the LASED II and LASED III sites in Kratie reflects the government’s continued attention to land management and social land concession programmes, particularly their role in supporting rural households and strengthening the economic foundations of rural communities.

For Cambodia, effective implementation of social land concessions remains closely linked to broader efforts to reduce rural poverty, improve agricultural livelihoods and promote more balanced and sustainable rural development.
